I wore this Witchery dress to the Dine For Life event on Wednesday night and had so many people ask me about it, I thought I’d do a mini outfit post. I have to confess that about a year ago I didn’t wear much colour at all. I’m not sure whether it’s because I didn’t feel confident enough or whether I just stuck with safer shades – but now I can’t get enough! Move over Carmen Miranda Otto!
I’ve gone a bit ‘star crazy’ lately and can’t get enough of them! I even bought Milky Way magic star chocolates on my last trip to the supermarket. These are some of my favourite ‘star’ items:
With warmer weather finally here, I’ve been searching for some fab new fashion finds for a fun Spring time wardrobe. These are just a few of my favourites:
I bought a dress in the same style and stretch cotton fabric from Country Road last year, and I wore it to DEATH. So when I spotted this dress that was very similar, I just had to snap it up. It’s comfy, wearable, easy to wash, with no ironing needed (happy clap!) and it’s in a gorgeous green pattern – perfect for warm spring and summer days.
You can’t go past a fabulous pair of flats for Summer, and these elegant gold t-bar sandals are ideal to slip on with jeans and a tee for casual-glamour or with a colourful maxi. These will go with everything.
I love the pops of fuchsia and yellow in this soft stretchy skirt. It’s an elegant pencil shape and would be ideal with a white shirt and heels for the office, or with flats and a tee for the weekend.
I love this gorgeous top, it’s fresh and florally and screams spring time sunshine. You could pair it with coloured jeans as shown in the photo, or with denim shorts and loads of fun arm candy.
One of the lovely mums at Gymbaroo recently commented on my bright t-shirt and told me ‘I can’t wear colour’. It made me realise that a year ago I didn’t wear much colour either. Whether it’s because I thought I couldn’t, or whether I didn’t feel confident enough to wear it I’m not sure, but a great way to introduce colour to your wardrobe is with some fun arm candy. These bangles come in gorgeous shades of turquoise, yellow, hot pink, sherbet, orange, black and cream. They have a hint of an Hermès cuff about them. (We can all dream, right?). And for less than $20, they’re a steal!
Happy spring shopping lovelies!
What are your favourite spring time fashion finds?
How do you add colour to your wardrobe?
If you have a summer holiday coming up, it’s a good idea to make the most of what’s left of the summer sales and put a little holiday outfit together. I spotted these turquoise silk Witchery shorts on the weekend and just had to snap them up for my European vacay.
I’m thinking of teaming them up with a white tank and gold accessories.
It was 34 degrees in Perth yesterday (I know – it really is an endless summer!), so I gave these shorts a test run and I love them! They are slightly longer than normal shorts (perfect for a mummy) and the colour reminds me of the ocean – perfect to get you in a summer holiday mood.
Happy summer holiday shopping!
Are you heading on a holiday anytime soon?
Have you found any holiday bargains?
For years I struggled to find a pair of jeans that were flattering and fit properly. I would go shopping in search of the perfect pair, try a couple on, get frustrated and go home thinking that maybe there just weren’t any jeans out there for me.
Then one lovely sunny day I popped into a store and tried on yet another pair of jeans. They were perfect for me. Plain, simple, they pulled me in at all the right places and made me look thinner than I am (hooray!). They were magic jeans! Oh, and they happened to be made by J Brand.
Since then I have been a big J Brand fan, I usually buy the 811 mid rise skinnies as worn here by none other than the very stylish Kate Middleton;
More recently I stumbled across a pair of white skinny jeans that were on sale at Witchery and I absolutely loved the fit. The waist is mid rise (perfect for a mummy tummy) and they seem to sit and fit just right. Plus, white jeans are highly recommended by the style bible ‘Parisian Chic’ (as seen below right) and so I just had to have them!
But I would have to say that my most recent and exciting jean jeanie find was inspired by a post from the legendary Nikki Parkinson from Styling You that you can find here. Nikki showed how to rock a coloured jean this Autumn-Winter, and after reading her post, my mind was made up!
I headed to Big W and thought I would check out the Emerson range of coloured jeans, and sitting right there on the rack was one lone, cobalt-blue pair of jeans in my size. It was love at first sight!
After a quick trip to my tailor, I have to say that they are the softest and most comfortable pair of jeans that I have ever owned. And they only cost me $19! These jeans are the ultimate addition to any winter wardrobe (and perfect for any mum with a little person with sticky fingers!).
And so the moral of my little jean jeanie story is that there is a perfect pair of jeans out there for everyone, you just have to find them. Happy hunting!
Love A xxx
**Ps. A little tip that I learnt from a friend years ago is to take your jeans to a tailor and have the pockets cut out and sewn down. It makes the front of the jeans sit smoothly and is more slimming**
What are your favourite jeans?
Do you have any tips to make them fit and sit better?
