Nobu – Crown Perth

Nobu is my all time favourite restaurant,  I just love everything about it – the ambience, decor, service and above all – the food. (We went to the official opening with special guest Robert De Niro back in March – check out the post here.)

The occasion was a birthday catch up with two amazing friends who I worked with over ten years ago.  Our friendship has seen us through stints in Japan and Dubai and somehow we have maintained our special connection and always manage to pick up where we left off.  I’m so lucky to have these fabulous and funny girls in my life.

My favourite Nobu dish is yellowtail sashimi with jalapeños; it’s an explosion of citrus, coriander and soy with the perfect amount of jalapeño heat. I could quite happily go to Nobu for this dish alone.  It’s so unbelievably good that one dish wasn’t enough, we had to have two!

I also love how Nobu dishes are designed for sharing, this is my favourite way to eat – to enjoy a little bit of everything.  Next up was a creamy, spicy prawn tempura, pork belly miso caramel and beef toban-yaki – all deliciously divine.

We also indulged in dessert – we shared the miso cappuccino which was a decadent blend of chocolate brûlée, chocolate coffee crumble, cappuccino foam and vanilla ice cream.  On our previous visit we had ordered the Ichigo and decided that we couldn’t possibly pass it up – it’s just too good. A crunchy, icy yuzu granita on top of strawberry pannacotta and lychee – it’s a tasty, textural sensation.

Nobu Perth overlooks the recently revamped pool area and the view is just stunning – very Miami come Las Vegas.  The bar is also a great spot for cocktails with a sensational amber light pendant feature.

If you haven’t experienced Nobu yet, then make it your next special occasion destination – you won’t be disappointed.

Nobu Opening Party with Robert De Niro

Last night my husband and I went along to the very glamorous official opening of Nobu at the Burswood in Perth, with part owner Robert De Niro appearing as a special guest.

We arrived to a red carpet style entrance with some truly incredible outfits on display.  I love that Perth fashion is so varied and interesting.  Patti Chong, Margarita Hughes and Di Bauwens never fail to disappoint me, I love their fashion flair and love of colour.

Perth also has some truly gorgeous girls with Sophia Barbagallo, Emma Milner and Margaret Buswell looking as effortlessly stunning as always and Zhivago designer Lydia Tsvetnenko rocking some out of control Alexander Wang gold heels.

The man of the moment, Robert De Niro – this was as close as we got!

The restaurant was a sea of familiar faces and I was so excited to meet STM food editor Gail Williams and The West food critic Rob Broadfield.  I also met Julie Bishop who was happy to pose for a photo with me and my friend Nicole. Julie is quite the fashionista and even tried on Nicole’s nude pumps.  What a gal!

The gorgeous tall blonde twins – Kylie and Nicole!

It was such a fabulous night and I loved catching up with some of my favourite people like Donna Wharton, wife of The West’s CEO Chris Wharton and my friends Nicole and Kylie while enjoying free flowing Veuve Clicquot, pineapple and lychee martinis, sake and endless rounds of pork belly bites, yellowtail sashimi and miniature tacos. Yum yum!

Well done to Burswood and Nobu for putting on such an amazing world class event.

We’ll be back very soon!
