Rochelle Adonis High Tea – Perth

I’ve loved high tea for as long as I can remember. It’s so elegant and ladylike and the perfect chance to get dressed up, indulge in some deliciously decadent bites and catch up with friends or family, while sipping hot tea or champagne.

For my mums birthday this year we decided to head to our favourite spot for high tea, Rochelle Adonis.  It’s a very small and intimate space with a feature wall full of beautifully hung antique forks and spoons and framed photos of Rochelle Adonis’s delectable creations.  It’s the perfect backdrop for the table full of freshly cut roses, crystal decanters, antique sugar bowls and vintage tea cups.

Our savoury course consisted of cucumber and dill sandwiches, lamb bishilla, parmesan crumbed artichoke, prawns on toasted brioche and purple carrot soup with horseradish cream.  I love the attention to detail at Rochelle Adonis, you can tell that everything is made and presented with passion – it makes the occasion even more special.  This individual plate just looked so gorgeous, we all sat back and admired before we started to enjoy.  Everything was just divine, but we all agreed the purple carrot soup was our favourite!

We were then served a gorgeous pear sorbet as a palate cleanser, it was so pear-fectly refreshing!

Dessert was presented on a crystal cake stand and was simply spectacular. We devoured the nut and salted caramel ice cream sundae (I am OBSESSED with salted caramel right now!) and then moved onto rice pudding with rhubarb and rose petals.  By this stage we were enjoying our second cup of tea and decided that we couldn’t possibly eat another bite, and so decided to take our flourless orange cake and chocolate mousse wagon wheels home in goody bags to enjoy later.

A choice of ten different tea varieties is offered with high tea, including Parisian Rose and Apple and Cinnamon, along with hot chocolate and coffee served in a french press.  You are even able to BYO champagne, which I highly recommend!

Winter Wonderland Wedding

Last week we were in Melbourne for my brothers high tea wedding at The Hotel Windsor.  It was such a beautiful day of old world vintage glamour and Little Miss was a flower girl.  She looked like a little snow angel in her cream gown and cape, holding her red rose bouquet in one hand and her teddy bear biscuit in the other.

The bride looked beautiful in a stunning lace gown made by her very talented mum (who also made the cake and the bouquet) and my brother looked very handsome in his black suit.

I was so proud of my little brother, he made a very dashing and debonair groom.

We indulged in delicious ribbon sandwiches, miniature cakes and The Hotel Windsors famous raisin and vanilla scones.

The wedding cake was made by the mother of the bride and not only did it look stunning, but it tasted yummy too.  Little Miss has kept the shoe from the top of the cake as a special memento from the day.

We were all gifted a vintage tea cup set filled with heart shaped biscuits made by a close family friend.  I thought it was such a perfect keepsake to remind us of the beautiful day.

If you’re visiting Melbourne I would highly recommend The Hotel Windsor, it’s pure old world charm which transports you back to a magical era and is well worth checking out.

High Tea at Rochelle Adonis

I simply adore high tea.  I love the sense of occasion, getting dressed up, catching up with girlfriends and chatting away over deliciously decadent bites, while sipping on hot tea or champagne.

My girlfriends and I decided it was high time for a catch up, and what better way to catch up than with high tea!  We headed to Rochelle Adonis in Brisbane Street, Perth where the studio is small and intimate. The feature wall is full of vintage mirrors, beautifully framed prints and photos. Crystal decanters, antique sugar bowls and beautiful blooms in vintage vases adorn the table. It’s a feast for the eyes even before the food arrives!

High tea is served in two stages; savoury first and then sweet.  Our first course consisted of individual plates of four savoury treats, including a delicious bite size beef cheek creation and a perfect cucumber and cream cheese sandwich. In between courses we were served a gorgeous peach and apricot sorbet on an antique spoon, it looked like a beautiful flower sitting in the middle of the plate.

Then it was time for our second course, which was presented to us on a stunning vintage crystal cake stand – we initially thought it looked too beautiful to eat but quickly managed to get started! Dessert included a Rochelle Adonis sundae, popcorn ice cream and a delicious nectarine, blueberry and rose petal tart.

Accompanied with high tea is a great selection of tea, plunger coffee and hot chocolate (if yours is served with a raspberry marshmallow, it tastes like turkish delight!) and you can even BYO champagne (which of course we did!). We finished off our high tea sipping champagne and chatting away, planning to do it all again very soon.
